2023 JTT Recap

Northern Arizona Junior Team Tennis teams took to the courts on July 28th-30th in Albuquerque, NM. Competing for the section JTT championships, NAZ players were represented in the 18s division, the 14s division and the 12s divisions. With a combination of boys and girls on each team and with every game counting, it made for a fun and competitive weekend.

The 18s team consisting of players from Prescott and Cottonwood areas started out with a loss in the first round but managed to rebound and ended 2nd in their pool play, giving them a chance to win in the final 4 teams out of 12 teams. They fought hard but lost in the semi finals to the eventual champions. Placing them 4th out of 12 teams in the end.

In the 14s division having two players from NAZ combining with a phoenix team in order to round out a proper lineup, Seth Walker and Nick Thompson both from Prescott ended up on the 2nd place 14s team for the event. New memories and friendships were made by all.

The highlight of the event was watching the 12 and under team naming themselves the NAZ Wolfpack. These young tennis players showed up representing NAZ with fantastic sportsmanship and before each match let out a wolf worthy howl. This team went undefeated in a double round robin throughout the weekend and came out with the CHAMPIONSHIP.

Congrats to all who were involved in this great event and team building opportunity. Big shout out to coach Andrea Meyer for supporting and building these players into better people and tennis players. Thank you for all the NAZ USTA and other support for these kids to attend such fun events.
