“Junior Team tennis for Northern Arizona was represented at the national level for the Southwest by a 14 and under team and an 18 and under team.
This was an incredible opportunity for these kids to go play at the next level and see better competition than they have before. Also, is a lifetime experience to travel across the country to play tennis with team and in a whole new environment.
The 18 and under team went 1-4 overall and they took 10th Pl. out of 16 teams. They played a team from the southern division, the middle states division, the New England division, the Hawaii division and the Eastern division of USTA. Some of those teams were separated only by a few games.
The 14 and under went 0-5 in the last two matches they had a few notable match wins which was very encouraging for these kids. The 4 coaches of Sterling Fetty, Andrea Meyer, Kevin Lyon and Kyle Bloomstadt were extremely proud of both teams. Everyone raised their level of play and competed to their fullest potential throughout the weekend.
Notable award was Grace Kim of Flagstaff winning the overall female sportsmanship award for the whole 14 and under division.
These coaches and players will be taking away a valuable experience and a determination to become better tennis players and people. Thank you so much for all the NAZ, USTA, Southwest and parent support it was an amazing trip. “
