“Based on a number of factors, the USTA Southwest Board of Directors and the Southwest League Committee have made the tough decision to cancel all 2020 Southwest League Sectional Championships.
Player safety, welfare, ability for local leagues to complete their seasons due to suspension of play, uncertainty with facility operations and ability to safely host large events are just some of the factors that were taken into consideration
Once the suspension of play is lifted, the focus will be on local play and getting everyone back on the courts safely. Some cities or states may reopen facilities for recreational tennis, however all USTA League Tennis will be suspended until authorized by our organizational task force and medical team, who are working with local and state officials.
Our goal is to have the local league play resume as soon as we can while adhering to social distancing guidelines and facility policies.
All players who have already registered for the 2020 Adult 40 & Over Section Championship, previously scheduled for the end of May, will receive a refund.
Once play resumes, our Local League Coordinators will be communicating with you regarding local league play opportunities and schedules.
Be well, Stay Safe and Come Back Swinging!”
