Beat the Heat Recap

Flagstaff, AZ – The Northern Arizona University (NAU) campus served as the backdrop for an exciting weekend of junior tennis during a USTA Level 6 tournament held on August 23 and 24, 2025. A total of 53 players, ranging from ages 12U to 18U, competed across 129 matches over two action-packed days on NAU’s impressive 12-court facility—featuring 6 indoor and 6 outdoor courts.

Despite a brief rain delay that temporarily paused play on Saturday afternoon, the tournament ran smoothly thanks to the flexibility offered by the indoor courts. Tournament staff worked efficiently to reschedule matches and minimize downtime, ensuring that the event stayed on track.

Players showcased a high level of competitiveness and sportsmanship, with tight matches seen across all age divisions. Many matches went the distance in third-set tiebreakers, reflecting the growing talent in Arizona’s junior tennis scene.

This event was not only a great opportunity for players to earn valuable USTA ranking points but also a chance to compete in a collegiate environment, inspiring many to look toward future tennis goals. The NAU campus provided an ideal venue, with its elevation, clean mountain air, and excellent facilities contributing to a memorable tournament experience.

Thank you to all players, parents, coaches, and volunteers who made the event a success. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Flagstaff for future tournaments!
