Oxendale Auto Group Indoor Tennis Championships Held at Northern Arizona University

FLAGSTAFF, AZ    The 5th (OAG) Oxendale Auto Group tennis Championships presented by Elizabeth McFarland  Attorney at Law was played at the Northern Arizona University indoor courts August 2-4.  Events were held in (USTA) United States Tennis Association sanctioned age division adult and (NTRP) National Tennis Rating categories with all net proceeds benefiting the growth of tennis programming  in northern Arizona. This tournament was a level 4 event which offered the most ranking points of any tournament conducted by the Southwest Section of the USTA.

76 players from 7 states competed in ages ranging from 13 to 75. 19 events were held in age levels from open division to 65 and over for both men and women as well as National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) events from 3.0 t0 4.0 in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Each event winner and finalist was awarded gold and silver medals like the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris.

Some local players enjoyed some especially good results. Blake Cain of Flagstaff won two events, the men’s 3.5 singles event and the mixed doubles 7.0 events with Kim Ballen. This was the first tennis tournament Cain ever entered. Sedona residents Dana Jacko and Mary Jo Perry won the women’s 3.0 doubles event.

“All of our players had plenty of matches over the weekend and the indoor courts allowed for no weather-related delays” , said tournament director, Sterling Fetty.

OAG president, Matt Oxendale, said “The Oxendale Auto Group is delighted to help bring this high level tournament to northern Arizona, and have the proceeds help develop more tennis growth in this region”.

“Tennis is a sport for a lifetime and we enjoy supporting activities that promote long term health and this event certainly does that” said Elizabeth McFarland Attorney at Law in Sedona.

Additional corporate sponsors of the OAG Indoor Tennis Championships are Cambium Wealth and Legacy Strategies in Flagstaff and Camp Verde, Northern Arizona Periodontics in Cottonwood and Wilson Racquet Sports as the official ball of the tournament.
